Didn’t expect much but OMG. The food is incredibly well executed. It’s well thought out, the meat dishes are amazing and well, the team is also easy on the eyes. Fully endorse you try a meal here. Pork shoulder is a must have.
10-Star Review for Madame Giulia – Ristorante, Matera An unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Matera! Madame Giulia is not just a restaurant – it’s a celebration of flavor, hospitality, and elegance. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and seated in a stunning setting that perfectly complements the beauty of the ancient city. Every dish was a masterpiece – beautifully presented, bursting with authentic regional flavors, and made with the freshest local ingredients. The antipasti was divine, the meat cooked to perfection, and the dessert… unforgettable. A great cocktail list was beautifully paired beautifully with our meal. The service was impeccable – attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food and experience. A special thank you to the team who made us feel like honoured guests rather than customers. Madame Giulia deserves every star and more – a must-visit for anyone seeking a world-class culinary experience in Matera. Bravissimi!
Amazing place, really beautiful restaurant, the staff was really attentive and kind. We didn’t make a reservation and they still found us a table. The food was delicious, the smoked Angus carpaccio was to die for, so light and the fruit salad complemented nicely the beefy meat. Loved the free bread with an amazing olive oil served to the side. The waiter even asked whether we are splitting the dishes and the chef made two portions in different plates for us which was sooo cute <3. The tagliatelle with sausage was not my favourite dish to be honest, it was a bit under seasoned for me but I liked the al dente pasta. The pink pepper marinated beef was DELICIOUS - cooked perfectly, the raspberries made the dish a bit lighter so we love that. The battered cod fillet was also not bad but not the best, a bit too fishy for me but absolutely loved the fava bean purée. The staff spoke amazing English so that was nice as in Italy it’s a bit hard to find a restaurant that both parties can understand each other. All in all you should definitely visit this restaurant if you have the chance, it’s just amazing
Beautiful little restaurant with a bunch of great dishes. A little el dente on some of the pasta for us, so ask if that's not your thing (typical in Italy) all the dishes were wonderful. We were with a large group and they accommodated us perfectly. Fast with the food, servers were wonderful. The inside is very nice but for some reason it has a very odd washroom area.
Starters are tasty. Recommend the crunchy pepper:) pasta is not worth the price. Unfortunately Wine taste pretty bad for me.
Brilliant service, on point, efficient, and well organized. Food was also beautiful, as was the location. The setting allows for a charming experience with amazing views of the sasso.
Madame Giulia boasts a fantastic location just steps away from the Sant’Agostino Monastery, with an outdoor terrace offering a breathtaking panoramic view of eastern Matera. We were seated outside and had the pleasure of watching the city transform as the sun went down—the colors shifting beautifully as evening fell. The food was excellent: refined, flavorful, and generously portioned. While the prices are a bit higher than average for Matera, the quality certainly lives up to it. The pork shoulder was particularly memorable—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The pasta was perfectly cooked and rich in taste. The portions were surprisingly large, which added great value to the overall experience. Our only hiccup was a delay with the antipasto, but the issue was quickly noticed by the head waiter, who addressed it professionally with the staff. From then on, service was flawless—attentive, polished, and friendly. The wine list was excellent, with a well-curated selection, though prices were on the higher side compared to other places in Matera. If you’re looking for a place that combines atmosphere, high-quality food, generous portions, and unforgettable views, Madame Giulia is an excellent choice.
